Music for Santa Rosalia: Past and Present
ONU Hall at Teatro Massimo, 04/06/2024
The cult of Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo, has always been accompanied not only by religious ceremonies but also by events typical of baroque spectacle, in which music often played a leading role.
The show "4 Canti per Santa Rosalia," which inaugurates the Summer of the Fondazione Teatro Massimo, is ideally inspired by these events, but with new music specially commissioned from four composers.
Together with the creators of the show and experts in the history of music in Palermo during the 17th and 18th centuries, we will embark on a journey through time to rediscover an ancient tradition.
Speakers: Giuseppe Collisani, Consuelo Giglio, Ilaria Grippaudo, Fabrizio Lupo. Introduction and coordination by Anna Tedesco.
Organizer: Association of Friends of Teatro Massimo
