Music, theater, exhibitions, and stories will illuminate and put the spotlight on the outskirts of the city, such as Zen, Cep, and Settecannoli, to honor Santa Rosalia, the symbol of Palermo.

"Rosalia. Eximia contra pestem Patrona" is the multidisciplinary festival organized by the Le Baccanti cooperative of Palermo, with the support of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Palermo and with the contribution of the National Fund for Live Entertainment of the Ministry of Culture. At the center of the stage is Santa Rosalia, a deep-rooted symbol of Palermo’s culture and traditions.

Venues such as the Teatro di San Filippo Neri, the Ecomuseo Mare Memoria Viva, and the Chiesa San Giovanni Bosco, as well as the Istituto Comprensivo Giuliana Saladino and the Chiesa San Giovanni Apostolo, will become the stage for events from May 20th to May 30th in Palermo.

• May 20th at 18:30 at Teatro San Filippo Neri: "Le 100 Chitarre" featuring students from music schools and the Palermo Conservatory, conducted by Paolo Romano.
• May 23rd at 18:30 at Chiesa di San Giovanni Bosco: "Fantasy for Guitar" with Luciano Monaco on guitar and Giuditta Perriera as the narrator.
• May 24th at 20:30 at Ecomuseo del Mare Memoria Viva: "Reverie" featuring guitarist Giorgio Buttitta and actress Egle Mazzamuto.
• May 25th from 10:00 to 19:00 at Ecomuseo del Mare: Luthier exhibition, presentation of the book "Estetica delle Scale," and comparative guitar trials. Followed by "Nachtmusik" at 20:00, a live performance by guitarist Lorenzo Micheli and narrator Elena Pistillo.
• May 26th at 20:30 at Ecomuseo del Mare: "Guitar Kermesse," a concert by students of the advanced guitar masterclass led by Maestro Lorenzo Micheli.
• May 27th and 30th at 9:00 at Istituto Giuliana Saladino: Puppetry and figure theater workshop, with activities exploring the history of Santa Rosalia through Sicilian puppet theater. Performances of "Rosalia. Eximia contra pestem Patrona" by Angelo Sicilia at 11:00 and 12:00, with a repeat performance at Chiesa San Giovanni Apostolo on May 29th at 21:00.

The festival collaborates with the "Le ore di Apollo" association, featuring guitar and voice performances by Elena Pistillo, Egle Mazzamuto, and Giuditta Perriera.

“The goal of the project,” say representatives of the Le Baccanti cooperative, “is to bridge the virtual gap between the periphery and the center, aiming to form a single, cohesive social nucleus. The guitar, at the center of the scene, will convey, through the presence of young musicians from all over Sicily, that involving young people is achieved especially through music, the foundation of all popular sentiment. Therefore, before each concert, a praise to Rosalia, Patron Saint of Palermo, is scheduled, to remember her determination and miraculous presence: a way to tell our origins, the tradition of the sacred rite, the memory and history of the city, accompanied by the sweet sound of guitars, muses and chorus leaders of this advancing new society. We look at culture as an extraordinary means of social redemption, allowing us to express the beauty and importance of our roots through a universal and engaging language.”
