"Il Fiore Pellegrino" Festival
Various locations, from 18/05/2024 to 02/08/2024
The "Il Fiore Pellegrino" festival is an event organized by MusicaMente dedicated to Santa Rosalia in Palermo. It will bring an innovative and engaging musical program to the outskirts of the city, celebrating the figure of Santa Rosalia and her cultural and historical impact over the centuries.
The festival will take place from May 18th to August 2nd in the peripheral districts of the Sicilian capital, Partanna Mondello and lo Sperone, as well as in the municipalities of Montelepre and Baucina.
“This year's theme,” says artistic director Paolo Rigano, “is related to the figure of Santa Rosalia and aims to be an opportunity to bring the music from the time of her life to the outskirts of Palermo and the municipalities of Montelepre and Baucina. This includes the beginning of her cult following the plague of 1624-25. The seventeenth century also saw a rich production of sacred music dedicated to the Santuzza, which reconstructs her life and extols her virtues, leading up to the present day with the innovative production of an Oratorio in twelve musical numbers.”
