The Festino of Sperone

Via Sacco e Vanzetti, 25/10/2024

The ‘Festino of Sperone’ is coming: a "new light of hope over Palermo." 400 children, "Rebellious Rosalie and Rosalii," will parade on October 25th with the "Resurrected Cart" (restored) by Kounellis, alternating narrative artistic stations, "rebellious prayers," and performances.
A "Song to Rosalia" by artist Pamela Barone and a tribute performance by Salvo Piparo will close the event, along with a greeting from the mayor and fireworks.

On Friday, October 25th, the Santuzza will be celebrated in Palermo with a unique event: a real Festino in the Sperone neighborhood that will liven up the district with a parade of 400 children from the "Sperone-Pertini" school, dressed in white and wearing crowns of talents and desires, worn proudly, showing the way for the "Resurrected Cart of the Rebellious Rosalie." This is the cart created by artist Jannis Kounellis for the 2007 Festino.

The residents of Sperone will be the first to experience an important project aimed at restoring several triumphant carts of Santa Rosalia, which the City of Palermo plans to entrust to various neighborhoods. After October 25th, Kounellis’ "Resurrected Cart" will be placed under the mural "The Rebellious Rosalie" and entrusted to the care of Sperone.
