These local talents, including musicians, singers, actors, comedians, and dancers, will present unique performances, repeating their tribute to Santa Rosalia every 60 minutes.

A MOMENT OF DEVOTION AND COMMUNITY

L’Acchianata delle Rosalie is not just a traveling show; it is a sacred rite that unites the Palermo community. While the Festino di Santa Rosalia is renowned for its lights and fireworks, this ascent represents a more intimate pilgrimage, rich in prayers, comfort, and hope. Santa Rosalia is invoked for healing, salvation, and protection, making this event a propitiatory rite of great spiritual significance.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The event will kick off at 8:00 PM with the official opening by Mayor Roberto Lagalla, and will be hosted by Massimo Minutella and Licia Raimondi. A hop-on/hop-off shuttle bus service, operating from 7:30 PM to midnight, will connect the Sanctuary to the Belvedere, allowing participants to attend performances at the various stations.

THE HISTORY OF MONTE PELLEGRINO AND THE CULT OF SANTA ROSALIA

Monte Pellegrino, described by Goethe as “the most beautiful promontory in the world,” is home to the Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia, built around the cave where the Saint’s bones were discovered in 1624. The Sicilian term "acchianata" means "ascent" and represents an ancient tradition that continues to captivate and engage the community, strengthening the spiritual bond with the "Santuzza."

The event is produced by the cooperative Le Baccanti and sponsored by the Municipality of Palermo.
