The Votive Shrines Dedicated to Santa Rosalia: A Short Walk Through the Historic Center of Palermo

Historic Center of Palermo, 29/06/2024

Palermo has a significant number of votive shrines, scattered both inside and outside its historic center.

These small chapels, erected out of devotion, are dedicated to Saints or sacred images. Among them, those dedicated to Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of our city, stand out in number.

The FAI (Italian Environment Fund) route aims to rediscover these shrines, starting from the oldest one dedicated to the Santuzza located in Piazza Monte di Pietà. From there, following a short itinerary through the streets of Palermo's historic center, we will together uncover the continuing importance of the cult of our patron saint within Palermo's popular neighborhoods.
